Classroom Attire
Appropriate dancewear must be worn by all students for class. This means no baggy shorts or shirts, no denim, or shorts/pants with zippers and buckles. Dance tights should be worn under short shorts or leotards. For your safety, jewelry should not be worn in class. Leotards, tights, ballet skirts, jazz pants, dance shorts, and tight shirts are all acceptable. Pointe and Ballet students must wear tights and a leotard for these classes. Dancers should also have their hair pulled up and away from their face.
Dance Shoes
Please make sure that you have the proper dance shoes for your classes. It is difficult to participate in class without wearing the required shoes. Students should have pink ballet shoes, tan jazz shoes, and tan slip-on tap shoes (with no buckle, strap, or tie). Special gymnastic, lyrical, or pointe shoes are needed for certain classes. For your convenience, many of these shoes are available to order at The Dance Co. by Lori. You may also purchase batons and tights through the studio. All ordered shoes and other dance apparel items must be prepaid. If you are ordering shoes elsewhere, please check with your teacher for the correct color and style. Certain shoes are required for competition and recital.
Monthly Tuition Payment
Our tuition plan is based on 32 weeks of classes from September 10, 2024 through May 31, 2025. The schedule is set so that each student receives the same number of weekly classes regardless of which days of the week they attend. Tuition for September and December will be prorated for ½ of a month's payment. All other months will be full months payments. Over the course of the season these months balance out to 28 classes for the 7 full months which is an average of 4 weeks per month. Scheduled holiday breaks are already included in the class count.
All tuition payments are due by the 10th day of the month. If payment is made after this date, a $10.00 late fee must be applied to your regular tuition payment for that month.
Checks, cash, & credit cards are accepted for tuition payment. Checks should be made out to “The Dance Co. by Lori” and put in the payment box located by the office door. There will be a $25.00 fee on all returned checks. Please make all cash payments in the office and ask for a receipt. The Dance Co. by Lori is not responsible for any lost or missing cash payments without a receipt. There is a $3 fee per $50 for credit card payments.
A monthly tuition book will be provided for keeping record of your payment. Please use the appropriate month’s slip with your payment to ensure proper credit. For your convenience, there are envelopes that may be used for your payment located below the payment box.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are open to any student at The Dance Co. by Lori. These classes must be scheduled directly with the instructor when classes are not in session. They may be scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. You will be asked to sign a contract before your private lessons begin. All private lessons must be paid for on the day of the lesson, NO EXCEPTIONS. Cash or check is accepted. Upon arrival, please sign your child in. Enclose your payment for that day’s private lesson in an envelope marked for privates. Fill out the information on the front of the envelope and hand it to your child’s instructor before the lesson begins. Any student that does not show up for their private lesson, or does not give a 24 hour cancellation notice, will be charged the full lesson fee. Students will not be able to schedule/take another lesson without payments being current.
Solo, Duo, and Trio Routines
All of these special routines must be approved by the instructor. In order to perform these routines in the recital, they must be started before December 1st and completed before May 15th.
Competition for Groups and Solos
Any dancer who wishes to compete this season will be given a contract to be signed by the student and their parent. Any student taking private lessons is eligible to compete their solo or duet. Also, students may be selected by the instructor and invited to be part of a group competition number. Dancers will be chosen based on their effort, dedication, attitude, and ability that they present during class.
Fundraising
Students will be offered the option to participate in fundraisers to help pay for their tuition, costumes, and recital fees. More information will be passed out to the students during their classes. In order to use your fundraising profits as payments, parents must stop in the office and request to do so in person.
Recital Information
The Dance Co. by Lori will hold its annual recital in June. All students are encouraged to participate; however, it is not mandatory. All dancers who will be participating in the show will be measured for costumes in January. Costume payments will be made in 3 deposits. One in November, January, and the final balance in February. All costumes must be paid in full before the order is placed. All costume payments are non-refundable.
All dancers that are participating in the recital must also attend a mandatory dress rehearsal the day before the show. The dress rehearsal will take place in the auditorium of the high school where our show is held. It is also extremely important that students attend all of their regular classes in the month of June as well as any other mandatory large group practices that may be scheduled in preparation for the recital.
The tentative dates and the location for the recital will be:
June 8 for the Dress Rehearsal
June 10 and 11 for the Recital
